Can anyone give me any tips on finding parts for an original Remington 'Old Army' .44 (patent date 1861, notched loading lever) #93xx? This revolver has been in the family of the Yankee who brought it home from the war ever since then, until it was given to me by the great-grandson. It consisted of the frame/barrel, cylinder w/broken pin and loading lever/plunger. All other parts had been lost by generations of kids playing with it. At first, I thought it would have to remain a 'wall-hanger', but I eventually realized that it could be restored. The cylinder pin head was broken off and the pin frozen to the cylinder, but I was able to disassemble it and see the bore, which turned out to be very good. Since then, I have accumulated some original parts, but still need a set of grips, a cylinder pin, a hand and spring, a trigger and a set of screws. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I saw a book of provenance of U.S. weapons which stated the small batch including my serial number was sold to 'Company C of the Texas Cavalry'. The Yankee was in an artillery unit that served in Louisiana, so I figure that he took the pistol from a prisoner or just picked it up on the battlefield. In any event, the revolver is nicely 'browned' and only slightly beat up from the kids, and I hope to have it in serviceable condition before long. Thanks for any tips.
