Re: Debray's 26th Texas Cavalry
Am sorry to be "off subject" but you fellows seem to be the authorities on the 26th Texas Cavalry. There is a "Lt. Charles H. Holmes, Sr." buried in the Santa Rosa, CA Cemetery(an unmarked grave)and I see there was a "Charles Holmes" in the 26th Texas Cavalry(source: The Roster of the Confederate Soldier). Could anyone confirm that our man and the soldier in the Roster are one and the same? In the local newspaper, his obituary mentioned that he was in the "Texas Rangers", but that is not indicative of any specific unit(other than Terry's) or time frame. I don't know if there is a roster of officers for the 26th. I would like to confirm this soldier's unit so that we can order him an upright headstone. Thanks so much for any help you might give me.
