Re: Debray's 26th Texas Cavalry
Hi, I was a reenactor in the 26th Texas back in the 80s and 90s here in California. I am surprised at all the information that has come out on the 26th since then. We all wore cadet grey uniforms with green piping and green Kepis, Im pretty imbarresed to say now.
I just wanted to add to this in my reserch back then I came across an article about a man who found a saber belt buckle with a metal detector in one of the camp sites along the route of the Red River campaign. The belt buckle was made of Pewter and was broken but on it was carved "26th Texas Debray's Mounted Riflemen"
Has anyone seen a picture of this buckle? And is it something mass produced or maybe a personal soldiers piece?
