Hello Wox,

Sewing machines were a household item for some 30 years prior to the war. Most large cities had at lest one manufacture & or sales of sewing machines. Many CW flags depot issued or homemade, the field was sewn by machine with hand stitched stars.

If the experts would take a look at the 2nd National of the 1st & 4th Florida Vols., the similarities are interesting.

From the pictures I’d say you have a western Army pattern 2nd National dating from 1864, or there about.
