Maybe not and maybe there is speculation but I am not the only one who does that for threads based on what's available online.

The other aspect is that based on my friend's examination of hundreds of CS flags over 30 years is that all he has found is S-Twist linen thread, unmercerized. So there must be something to that physical evidence if it is so consistent over this time frame and number of flags examined.
