I believe if you superimposed the Marshall House Flag over a typical 7 star First National CSA flag you can see that the MHF has enough blue canton left remaining in the area just right of the hosit, (if indeed it ever had a star in that area) to have left behind evidence of at least part of a star in that area to complete a wreath or circle of stars which I doubt it ever did. So I would say that in spite of the known inaccuracy of artists' renditions during the War that in this case it probably is a fair reproduction of the flag with a 2/3 circle of 7 stars with the eighth star in the center. I would take this into Photoshop and show an the example but it is such a pain in the butt to post imagines on this site.
