After playing around with this in Photoshop for about a hour I need to qualify my conjecture about the circle of stars. I can see if the stars were not evenly spaced apart having the upper stars spaced closer together than the lower stars then I would concede it would then be possible for all seven stars to be in a circle. Sorry Jim, I thought it was a slam dunk.
