.. thank you for the reply.. I guess the debate on the Gettysburg capture (or not) is most likely the reasoning for the two different displays shown in artist accounts... thus the interpretation of which it most likely was may differ. The WD#82 details would "fit" the 14th Va. However I find it quite odd that if it was taken then no credible account of the capture I can find. At the time, or surfacing later if taken home by someone.

It would be a natural assumption that they would have had the 3rd Bunting Pickett Div style unit marked flag at Gettysburg as all the rest of the Brigade and Division had... If the one captured at Five Forks is of this same Pickett Div style... It would make one wonder if they actually lost theirs at Gettysburg or not. Im not immediately aware if Pickett recieved another issue of this same style, but may be in error on that guess... Have not been able to locate the book locally here as of yet.
