Re: Cummings' Brigade at Vicksburg
In Response To: Cummings' Brigade at Vicksburg ()

Dear Jim,

Check your reference for the 41st Georgia being in Cumming's Brigade. I do not show that the 41st Georgia was ever in Cumming's Brigade. The brigade consisted of the 34th, 36th, 39th, 56th, and the 57th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Regiments for the majority of the war. Cumming's Brigade was located in the area of what is today the intersections of Indiana Avenue and Confederate Avenue.

You are correct in that the 41st was down at the vicinity of South Fort.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Respectfully,
