Re: Lt. Judson C. Sapp, 2nd Regt. GA Vol Inf.

I've been researching the 2d Ga. Infantry for a number of years, mainly as part of a editing project involving a body of 150 letters written by a soldier in that unit. I happened to have a good bit on Lt. Sapp:

Judson C. Sapp- born October 27, 1837 Burke County, Georgia. Attended Mercer University, Class of 1854 (lists Savannah as residence). Attended the University of Virginia, where he studied law. Wounded in the right arm, July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg. Arm subsequently amputated. d. Martinsburg, Virginia, September 19, 1863. Buried Fredericksburg, Virginia. Obituaries in Augusta Constitutionalist, July 1864 and Waynesboro True Citizen, April 20, 1961. There is also a sketch of Sapp in Biographical Sketches on Burke County.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has information, particularly unpublished manuscripts, on the 2d Ga. Infantry Regiment. The soldiers whose letters I am editing served in Co. C of the 2d, the "Semmes Guards." This company was primarily composed of men from Stewart and Muscogee Counties in Georgia and several counties in Alabama on the other side of the Chattahoochee River.
