Do you know the specifics of that last battle at Columbus? My g-g-granfather, Pvt. James Taylor Daniel,, was in Company E of the 3rd GA Reserves at that battle. I have never been able to determine what this Regiment did at Columbus.

His record shows that he was captured and taken prisoner at Macon in April 1865. Would he have been captured at Columbus and taken to Macon? Or would he have been captured as he was retreating after the battle?

Anything you can share with me about the 3rd GA Reserves, or about Pvt. Daniel himself, from the time they left as guards at Andersonville up to the end of the War would be very helpful.
