Re: 48th Georgia Infantry (Captured Flag)

My great great grandfather, Elias J. Denson, states in old family letters that he was the 'color bearer of the 48th Ga Regiment of Wright's Brigade and in the battle of the 2nd day's fight (July 2nd, 1863) at Gettysburg' was wounded and lost his battle flag. In 1911 he was searching for the flag that was captured, and later learned it had been returned to the capitol in Atlanta.
