The great majority of soldiers who died during the war were victims of disease. Fever claimed the life of James A. Carson, who died at Lynchburg Va., Gen. Hospital No. 2, Aug. 27, 1862. Lynchburg has a fair number of marked burials. It would be interesting to see if he has a marker there. The same is true for Major Carson, who could have a marker near Winchester VA. Robert H. Carson served as a courier for General Cook, his date and place of death unrecorded in service records.
