The text does establish that Governor Brown used the term as late as 1861, which surprises me a bit. Let me assure you that the 18th and 19th Georgia Regiments were armed and equipped the same as most other Confederate units organized at that time.

References to specific arms issued to these commands are both useful and interesting. "Harpers Ferry" could refer to any musket or rifle produced at that armory during the 19th century. Here's one example -
