Pretty cool about your Swedish ancestor. Former French Marshal Bernadotte, one of Napoleon's worst in my opinion, left his service and went to serve the Swedes as their ruler had died with no heirs. Bernadotte had been kind to some Swedish prisoners which is why they tapped him to become their new king. He was a major player in the 1813 campaign against Napoleon and demanded high rank and command authority and part of that was the Prussian Army, which he shrewdly used as his hammer saving his Swedes from heavy fighting. The Prussians did not care for him much because of that.

The modern Swedish Royal Family descends from Bernadotte.
