Lyle,
In my quest for locating my gg-uncle, John F. Burk (private, 26th TN, then 1st Confederate Regiment, Georgia Volunteers), I have run into a deadend. His last date on roll is 31 Aug,1863. His regiment fell back from Tullahoma, TN with Bragg prior to Chickamauga. Another source said that if he was no longer on the roll, then chances are he was killed or mortally wounded at Chickamauga. Do your sources show any record of a John F. Burk?
How ironic is it that his family never knew what happened to him, even though he grew up 8 miles from the battlefield.
Any help you can provide will be appreciated.
