The only Artillery batallion I am familiar with coming from Athens is the GA Troup, named after the governor, not the county. Served in Cobb's Legion early on, Later under HH Carlton of Athens, and part of McClaws Artillery (Longstreet's Corp) but always in the Army of North VA. I have researched Athens history and ancestors for years, and this is the first I've heard of another artillery unit hailing from Clarke County. If I have missed something (not being sarcastic) please let me know. Your link to the Archives was no help.
