At last!!!! For decades I have been confused by the designation of Cobb's Guards and Cobb's Legion and its attachment to the 22nd Battalion Georgia Heavy Artillery. My Great Grandfather, Moses Green Knighton, served in Co. B, Cobb's Guards as evidenced by his declaration on the Indigent Confederate Pension apllication. Up until this very minute, I could not find any reference to Cobb's Guards--only to Cobb's Legion which now I am assuming the two are not the same. Thank you for clearing this up. Does anyone have any source material, regimental history, or other information that can take me further into the history of either Co. B, Cobb's Guards, or Co. H, 22nd Battalion, Georgia Heavy Artillery? Perhaps a list of battles and/or combat actions in which this Company was involved?
