Dear Mr. Hodge, I am grareful for your superior knowledge. Thanks for your help. The
Confederate History Muster Roles for 36th Ga. state - {Ezzard, George W.: Private Jan. 15,1862. Captured at Vicksburg, Miss. july3, 1863, and paroled there July 9,1863. Roll forAug. 31, 1863 shows him present. Pension records show he surrendered at Smithfield, N.C. Aprl. 1865.} Could this ( from the pension record )be accurate in reference to his personal SURRENDER in April? There was little fighting going on in April after the battle of Bville. I am inclinded to believe that this was incorrect language, and that this SURRENDER refers to the general surrender later in April? What do you think? By the way, I have been to the site where the reorganazation took place (the camp at Selma/Smithfield) . Many small"piles" of discarded N.C.uniform buttons ( having been on uniforms replaced with new ones from Raleigh have been found on this large site. Also some Ga. ones. Thanks Again !!!!!!!
