The U. S. National Archives in Washington, D. C., Record Group 109, holds for the Charlottesville Gen. Hosp., a register of patients, July 22, 1861 - August 2, 1865 (ch. VI, vols. 214 and 215), with an alphabetical name index (ch. VI, vol. 216)

They also hold weekly reports of patients and attendants, General Hospitals Nos, 1-3, Camp Nicholls, Ladies Relief, Pratt, and Way Hospitals at Lynchburg, 1862-65 (ch. VI, vol. 724); and a miscellaneous record book, 1864-65 (ch. VI, vol. 529), containing statistical reports of patients, attendants, diseases, and sounds, lists of deaths and discharged men.

My experience with these records are that they are contained in large bound volumes, basically indexes containing names, dates, problem, etc. Nothing detailed. Written in ink, now well faded. Difficult to study.
