Company "B"(of Atlanta) was also made up of clerks from the stores of John Ryan,Meyers and Hayden.

A local lady from Atlanta named Sarah Conley Clayton visited the camp of instruction in Big Shanty(Kennesaw,Georgia)during their training, which was common for the people of Atlanta to come visit and bring things for the soldiers.
She described the men of company "B" as "beautifully uniformed in dark green with gold trimmings and large dark hats with drooping plumes and were a exceedingly fine-looking body of men". The only reason this company had a green uniform was it was organized from a local militia company named the "Irish Volunteers" before the war then reorganized during the outbreak of war as "Jackson Guards" .Consisted of native-born irishmen or of irish descent. They may have recieved regulation CSA uniforms at the camp of instruction (?) I would assume that the rest of the 19th georgia be would clad in Grey or Butter-nut un iforms.

A Union soldier at the battle of Fredericksburg described the 19th Georgia as
"Butter-nut clothed Rebels"

(The 19th Georgia was part of Archer's Brigade) A.P.Hill's Division

"Archer's Brigade left Harper's Ferry at sunrise on Sept.17th with the appearance
of a newly raised Union Brigade. This was attributed to the fact that new blue blue uniforms that adorned most of the soldiers. The tattered battle flags gave clarification that the Brigade was neither new nor Federal. However,the fast pace of the forced 18 mile march rapidly, caused the shedding of the new attire."

It is said that after the soldiers marched away from Harper's Ferry with there new uniforms: they also carried a captured Federal flag(probably not for very long!)

"So many men in Gen. James J. Archer's Brigade donned captured clothing that one member claimed that " but for the tattered Battle Flags, [they] might have been taken for a brand new Brigade from Boston."
