Re: James M. Denman
Very interesting story. Wonder if her child was the cause of her actions. Perhaps he refused to acknowledge his responsibility, if indeed he was responsible. I'm from and live in Cobb County, just south of Bartow. My folks were in the 18th Ga, mustered and first commanded by W. T. Wofford, later General of Wofford's Brigade. At the end of the war he was at home in Cassville, and was assigned the command of the North Georgia Region. He mustered together all the invalids, deserters, renegades, etc., and acheived a degree of control. He surrendered these troops at Kingston in sMay, 1865. I wonder if A. P. Wofford, who relieved Mrs. Denma/on of her duties as administrix of her husband's estate, was any kin to General Wofford. His children were all girls, but he may have had brothers in the area, where he lived before and after the war. Does anyone know? Stan
