There are several schools of thought on this battle and not everyone is in agreement that it occurred in Payne County. There's a pretty good argument for the Keystone site. But in personal conversations with Muriel H. Wright, she identified a third possible site south of that one.

As you know, the Oklahoma Historical Society has refused to take sides, for many reasons, but chiefly because the Keystone site is under water and cannot be proven or disproven through archaeology.

(I have my own opinion as to the location, but will not state it until after I retire, if then.)
