Re: Battle of Round Mountain, I. T.

I was told by a historian (don't remember who) that artifacts were found north and west of the Twin Mounds west of Yale verifying that the battle WAS fought there.

But another historial (again, who?) told me that the artifacts were actually a fight circa 1869 between either outlaws or rustlers and either cattlemen or marshalls.

Too bad I didn't keep track of sources when I was younger!

Also...my Civil war vetera burial database for Oklahoma was up to 11,812 men and women. I was in Cushing last night to give a CSA vet research program to the genealogy society. Before the meeting I compared 1910 census info (Union or Confederate veteran is stated on the census) and found another 15 or so- about half of those were confederates. So now up to around 11,830 vets.

Let me know if your camp ever needs a look up. I can search by any field or combination of fields: last name, first name, co, regt, state, type (inf/cav/art/csa), county, cemetery.

Sincerely,

Mahlon Erickson
