Right. I think that's what I said. Two companies totalling 150 men. Of course, on paper a company was 100 men in the Union Army -- and some of the CSA companies (at least as late as Chickamauga) were even larger. Nevertheless, out here the organizations were generally smaller.
Also, in the regimental structure, they were often divided into three battalions, with the Colonel leading the 1st, the LTC leading the 2nd, and the MAJ leading the 3rd.
On another topic: In private letters (from both sides) there are references to an Arkansas regiment being actively involved in the engagement. I've always assumed that the writers were confused by the late-in-the-day appearance of Cabell but would be happy to have evidence otherwise.
