Thanks, Frank. When I first read your message my immediate thought was "Oh, that's what SGM Ross meant when he wrote his wife that there were Texans and an Arkansas regiment" in the battle. But then I recalled that he and his family had taken their slaves to Bonham and adjacent areas, so surely he would have recognized Bass' as a Texan.

So . . . . . I'm still wondering what he meant -- unless he was simply counting BG Cabell's brigade which wasn't actually in the battle.
