What I was trying to say, however, about the cavalry squadrons of Gillett and Scanland, altogether 4 companies, was that I don't think they were more than 150 altogether, i.e. about 75 men in each squadron, or slightly over 35 men to each company. You may disagree, of course...
I'm not familiar with the Arkansas regiment. Perhaps one of Cabell's regiments arrived in time for the battle. Do the references give any further clues?
