The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Confederate Home, McAlester, OK

Hugh,
In O.H.S. Vol 18-pg.215 bio-reads He was a officer-commandar (Major General)for all of the Civil War Confederate veterans,he was on the board providing pensions to all Confererate in I.T. Ok.

So it was not just the 'Old soldiers Confederate Home',this may of been a deptment,of the home and he was a military judge/Dr./Admin. You are likely correct they sent papers to to his home in McAlester?
He Died in Oct.1919, I don't know what role the home had or if all C.W vet's applied there?
Your John T Bazer was still alive in 1916 you stated he died in abt-1921
This is the forerunner of the first Veteran's administration, the site does not have all the poeple listed who lived there?
Thanks-- Danny K
