Sorry to take so long to reply.

Yes, I had a hard time establishing chronology, especially in the Spring of 1863. I was primarily using the OR, Wiley Britton, Wilfred Knight, and Whit Edwards. I did use some other sources as well. The most difficult part was reconciling some of the dates in April and May. I thought I would just simply line up the sources and make kind of a day by day outline of events. The problem was that some of these weren't too precise. It was confusing, for me anyway, to figure out if different sources were talking about the same supply trains, "scouts", raids, and so forth. Page 32-33 of William Shea's "Fields of Blood" states that there were always several wagon trains in progress so maybe what we have is about as good as it gets. I don't want anyone to think that I'm criticizing the Edwards' book because I'm just grateful he wrote it. Thanks for the response.
