Bass' 20th TX Cav - Feb 1864

Looking for memoirs, diaries, letters related to the 20th TX Cavalry commanded by Col. T.C. Bass. I'm particularly interested in their activities, locations, etc. In particular, I'm trying to establish their location in February 1864. Looking for memoirs, diaries, letters related to the 20th TX Cavalry commanded by Col. T.C. Bass. I'm particularly interested in their activities, locations, etc.

Any ideas on where to look?

Col. Bass was at Boggy Depot and requested a medical discharge on Feb. 10, 1864. His discharge was granted and in March the regiment was reorganized into a battalion under Maj John Johnson with new co. A located at Boggy Depot. I assume these men were at Boggy Depot in February but have yet to confirm that.

I'm trying to prove or disprove, as the case may be, whether any of Bass's 20th TX Cav were at the Battle of Middle Boggy, Feb. 14, 1864. The Union report says the Confederates included "Texans" and folklore has assumed they were of the 20th TX Cav. I have found no other sources to confirm that.

The Confederates there, per Confederate reports, included men of Jumper's 1st Seminole Battalion and at least one company of the 1st Chickasaw Battalion, Capt. Jonathan Nail's Company (Co. G?). Either or both of these likely contained some Texans (or at least whitemen). The Chickasaw Battalion reorganized in Oct. 1864 and became known as Shecoe's Battalion.
