Roger,
I probably can't tell you anything you don't now about the location the site. Old maps show two roads crossing Coody Creek in or near the Cherokee Nation. The obvious one is the Texas Road that crossed the creek about 5 miles from the river. The other was a road down the river to Webbers Falls.

You may be familiar with the Carolyn Thomas-Foreman wrote an article about Ella Coody Robinson in the Chronicles which is online at
http://digital.library.okstate.edu/chronicles/v007/v007p364.html

The article mentions that they moved from Frozen Rock and lived for a while at John Vann's at/in the Gooseneck Bend. This is a little confusing to me because I thought John S. Vann inherited his father's house (Rich Joe Vann) just west of Webbers Falls.

My presumption is that the road from Niven's Ferry ran down the river past Rabbit Ford and Frozen Rock and then crossed Coody Creek near it's mouth and across the 'mouth' of the Gooseneck Bend. It undoubtedly connected to the Brewer Ferry (which became Smith Ferry) and on via Brushy Mtn and to Webbers Falls. If John S. Vann lived in the Gooseneck Bend, that would seem a likely location for the encampment though perhaps not actually on Coody Creek.
