Re: "4th Kentucky Infantry Regiment (Union)

My Great-Great-Grandfather William Monroe enlisted in Co. H. 4th Kentucky Infantry, U.S. Army on 09 October 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson in Garrard County, Kentucky (Lancaster). His first battle was at Mills Spring, 19 Janurary 1862. His was involed in several skirnishes againest Gen. John Hunt's Morgan Con. Calvary. His larger battles were at Chickamauga(19-20 September 1863), Missioary Ridge ( November 1863).After that the 4th Ky. moved into Northern Georgia. The 4th Kentucky Volunteer became 4th Ky. Veteran Volunteer Inf.Jan. 1864. William was transferred to Co. G. 4th Ky. Veteran Inf. 13 Aug. 1864. The 4th Volunteer Veteran Inf. was sent to Nashville Tenn. in Aug. 1864.
I've been told that there is a marker on Snodgrass Hill in Tenn. that bears the names of the 4th Kentucky Inf.

I only have a copy of William's Volunteer Enlistment. We have placed a Civil War stone for him in Darnell Cemetery in Anderson County Ky. I have his wife and children names.

I would like for William to have recognition for his service in the Civil War.
