Re: whipperville creek or bridge in dec

Keith:

You can tell your doubting friend that there were actually three skirmishes and possibly more in Logan County in the Fall of 1861. One, of course, was Whippoorwill Bridge. Another was a skirmish that took place at the Buena Vista Springs, a health spa, northwest of Russellville. A third took place just northeast of Russellville but I am still trying to pinpoint its location.

One might also point to a gunfight that took the life of a Federal Soldier just of the Square in Russellville. Given the early date this dead Federal is actually the first Federal Soldier killed in Kentucky during the War. That distinction has previously been given Granville Allen who died at the Battle of Big Hill north of Morgantown in Butler County.
