A.P. Warterfield's full name was Alexander Patterson Warterfield (1834-1928). He was born in Goshen, Kentucky on July 28, 1834. Goshen is today Stella, KY, located in Calloway County. He married Isabella Fiser in Weakley County, TN in 1857, and by 1860 was living down the road from Goshen in the community of Farmington, KY (Graves County) where he first practiced medicine. He moved to Cottage Grove, TN around 1863. We have had stories passed down through the family that he was Gen. Forrest's doctor for a brief time during the war. Dr. Warterfield's daughter Ruth Warterfield, born 1884, mentioned in her UDC application that her father was served in the 7th Kentucky as a physician.
