Re: Capt. Sid Cook, Co. G, 7th Confederate Cavalry

Mike... I didn't see where anyone ever answered the questions about Borders Store and davis' Dry Goods. As far as I can tell Borders had two stores- one near Louisa and one in Paintsville. He was Archibald Borders and it was his boat that Col. James Garfield commandeered on a wild trip up the Big Sandy River with a flood on to get neeed supplies from Catlettsburg to Pikeville. Davis' Dry Goods was located at davisville in Lawrence County, Ky. It is just barely out of Johnson County. On a map of today it is just off rte. 201 going from Paintsville in Johnson County to Blaine n Lawrence Co. Most maps show Davisville. It is right on the county line.
Mike... Did you ever get a story together about Henry Sparks or at least most of his Ciivil War life? I would love to see what you found.

The reason I ask is there are some things happening about some local Civil War stories & info especially concerning guys from around the Flat Gap area where Henry was from. A guy has been digging on the Estep men and has some good info. They rode with Henry Sparks and my Andrew Osborne.

Also there is a story about James Patterson and Andrew getting shot. I will link it here in case you had not seen it. It is a fascinating story and well researched by Marlitta Perkins. If interest keeps up about all these guys from that area we can all get our stories together. I thought you would like reading this lady's blog since Andrew and patterson were both known to Henry and were all in the 5th Ky Infantry together and in Sid Cook's 7th Battallion together (I can't remember if Henry was in that or not but I thought he was.)
