As a sidenote to the above information, the Jackson Barracks Library in Chalmette has the original registers from the Camp Nicholls Home and it has a wealth of information about the men that were in the home. Some of it is quite humerous as they had strict rules about drinking, etc. and it shows which ones were tossed out, let back in, etc.

Also, Camp Moore in Tangipahoa, LA has several artifacts that were picked up from the Soldier's Home in 1948. They include a life size portrait of Gen. Lee, an organ, several pews and some wicker type furniture.

Camp Moore is interested in any other information about the Camp Nicholls home and/or photographs of same. We have one image of the front of the home but it is pretty poor quality.
