Could this be the same James Cosgrove that ran a leather manufacturing shop in New Orleans? There is a James Cosgrove that supplied much of the accoutrements to the Louisiana companies as they went off to war along with Magee & George. There is much data on this firm in the microfilm sets concerning Civilians dealing with the Confederate govt. in the National Archives. I don't know whether Mr. Cosgrove enlisted or not as he does not appear in anything that I have. You may also check pension records online at the Louisiana State Archives.
