Re: J.R. Albritton, Capt. Saulley's Co.

James Rountree Albritton moved from Snow Hill, Wilcox County Alabama to eastern Union Parish Louisiana about 1852. His pension application is confusing and contains incorrect data about his units, but the information you found (Company K, Sculley's Company) is directly from his Texas pension application (it also says he was in the Crescent Regiment). Other records indicate that in January 1863, he was conscripted and apparently (although records are unclear) put into the 25 La. Infantry Regiment. I am also unclear on what happened to him for the year 1863, as I cannot find reliable information on the 25th. He enlisted in Union Parish in December 1863 in Company A, 2nd Battalion Louisiana Heavy Artillery. Albritton was transferred to the 25th La Regiment in February 1864, and then back to the 2nd Batt. La Hvy. Art. in October.

After the war, he and his wife Susannah Fowler went from Union Parish back to Wilcox County Alabama before moving to Freestone County Texas in the early 1870s. If you would like any more information on Albritton or his family, please email me at timothydhudson at hotmail.com

Thanks,

Tim
