I wouldn't venture a guess. One thing you might get an idea would be his age. If over 35 in 1861 most likely not, however when conscription
took effect, April, 1862, he could have been drafted if within the 18 - 35 year old range. Later in September, 1862 the conscription age was raised to 45.
