Hello guys:

Just a little more info about Sabinetown in Sabine Co., TX.

Apparently, in the old days, it was a major entryway from central Louisiana into east Texas.
The next major ferry to the north was the Pendleton / Gaines ferry.

Sabinetown was a port of entry at the time that riverboats travelled the Sabine River.
Apparently there was a fairly large community there at one time.

At Sabinetown, on the Texas side of the river, was a set of brestworks for defense of the river.
These are now a housing development. On the Louisiana side of the river, there was a companion
set of brestworks. These are now under Toledo Bend Lake.
