I'm here. Thank you for asking me. I hope this helps.
I found that there seemed to be a controversy about whether Quantrill and/or his men carried a "black flag."
Kit Dalton claimed there was a black flag and wrote a book entitled, "Under the Black Flag".
Jim Lunn, who rode under Kit Dalton, supposedly carried a black flag during the Lawrence Raid. Jack Swartz also supposedly carried a black flag during the Lawrence Raid.
Frank James and Allan Parmer claimed they never saw the black flag. They were brothers-in-law.
So, who do you believe Kit Dalton or Frank James?
Actually it meant that no quarter would be taken; no prisoners taken alive. It very well may have been a "definition of attitude".
Anna Fickle supposedly made a flag for Quantrill. Joseph Fickell was recruited by Quantrill and may be a relative, since both came from Johnson County. Anna was arrested and sentenced to three years in the Alton military prison for helping a prisoner escape from Lexington provost prison.
I don't know of any flags that survived. William "Bloody Bill" Anderson had a small Confederate flag on his person when he was killed.
