Re: flag talk

Glenn,

I was intrigued with the design with the "Quant" letters on the flag. I wondered what it stood for. Patrick sent this information to me.

"There are a few different meanings attributed to what it might be, the most common being a clenched fist. Some also think it might be a Palmetto Tree in honor of South Carolina, I also also heard it described as a cannon blast. The problem is I have never seen what the source of
these stories are, but my friend in Kentucky say they have and they all support the first.

I tend to agree that it may be a clenched fist. Most of the families in that area were originally from Kentucky, and I would think if it stood for a cannon blast, the "flames" would be longer.

When you get through reading that book, how about reading mine, THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF QUANTRILL'S GUERRILLAS?
