How each group was treated after the war?

Yes, it would be hard to apply generalizations without trying some sort of quantification. And to do so, one would need to make further distinctions and comparisons. Ex-Confederates might be subject to a certain type of treatment on average, but what about ex-guerrillas? I would expect "known" guerrillas to be subject to more retaliation by their victims than ex-Confederates or former Union soldiers, or immigrant families, etc.

Complicating this, there were those who chose to leave the state or country before or at the end of the war. How would one expect the neighbors and local authorities to react to folks who were making war (in some instances as guerrillas) against them before? Or those who left the country or state rather than live beside their former neighbors under anything but a government of their own choosing? Or those who stayed or returned but were less than good neighbors?

Without consideration of the potential contemporary counter points of view it would be difficult to draw accurate conclusions about individual cases.

Adding to all this, Missouri's population increased by 45.6% from 1860 to 1870. So there was considerable dilution of the pre-war population, and many new faces, along with many old faces that were buried, or in exile. Ex-Confederates happy with the old neighborhood (and authorities), would be less inclined to like the new one. The folks they supported went off to war, and many didn't return, or if they did were no longer in community leadership positions, at least for a few years.
