Genl Shelby having relieved his staff from duty the business of the Division has devolved upon my staff and such duties not being anticipated they have not the necessary funds to defray the absolute expenses of the command. I therefore send to your Head Quarters Capt McDonald a Quartermaster and Major Duggan my Commissary, with a request that you order a sufficiency of funds be placed at their disposal to bear the expenses of the Division until we shall reach such point as you design as our stopping place.
