I looked at a map. I think you are right about this place being under Eufala Lake. I think Thompson and Shelby went up the northwest fork of the lake and when they left their camp they said they crossed over a terrible steep hill. They crossed the hill between the two forks of the lake and this brought them back to the Canadian River and back on their south west track behind Price.
Dr McPheeters diary states Price went through Perryville, then after Shelby made his detour he comes through Perryville.
McPheeters said General Stand Watie's headquarters were located near Muddy Boggy creek.
McPheeters was traveling with Price's Staff most of the time
