Neil- The middle initial of Anderson Smith is not known. Even his obituary does not mention it. State records show him as Commissary Sergeant with Hornbeck's Regiment, Lawther's Brigade. The only other person listed in this unit is Pvt. Thomas Inman, a relative of Smith's. Captain Albert Hornbeck raised a company in Moniteau and Cooper Counties in 1864. The company formed part of Col. Rbt. Lawther's regiment, otherwise known as the 10th Mo Cavalry (Confd.), which participated in Gen Sterling Price's 1864 raid and subsequently surrendered at Shreveport, La. in June 1865. Any help would be appreciated. I hope to assemble enough documentation to order veterans markers for both Smith and Inman. JohnKay
