John: As you doubtless know, the 10th Cavalry did not organize until Dec, 1863, therefore the records are very incomplete. In fact, most Missouri units that served west of the Mississippi River have few records after that date, with the exception of prisoner or parole records. Further, many soldiers simply did not surrender with their regiments at Shreveport or elsewhere in 1865, and that appears especially true for the 10th Cavalry Regiment. Unless some undiscovered records appear someday, we will never have complete rolls of Missouri's Confederate soldiers. That unfortunately is the way it is. Efforts were made around 1912 or so to gather Missouri Confederate muster rolls, etc., but by then it was simply too late. The State Historical Society supposedly has a microfilm roll of Confederate muster rolls that appeared in various newspapers from around the state, but I have never viewed it to see what it may contain.
