HI Betsy
I went through my Esarey history and found the the B.M. Esarey is Benjamin Mason Esarey and Elizabeth Meisner Esarey. He married (first) Meisner on Jan. 15, 1833. Benjamin was born 7-21-1810 and died 7-10-1876. He married (second) to Elizabeth Rhodes on March 24, 1867. The Sophie in the 1860 census was their daughter Saphira Esarey born @ 1835. I still do not know the Julia A. Frakes connection. BUT the state listed as her birth state of Ia. is actually IndianA. Some census takers used this incorrect two letter designation. My grandmother was an Esarey. I can speculate on this Julia but will continue to search for a connection.
