Good to hear from you. I am surprised little is known of Col. Philips since he had such an interesting command. There is a very well written book that I haven't got to yet called "The CW in the American West by Alvin M. Josephy Jr I don't know if he covers the 3rd IHG or any Indian regiments that fought in Mo and Ark. My understanding is that the CSA wanted to use the IT has a grainery since has you know food production in the CSA was a constant challenge. I am not sure why Indian soldiers defected from Drews unit and then joined the 3rd IHG. If I read other refernces about them from other sources I will post them.
