Ross, great-grandson of Jesse James, recognized the family historian)in his book, "Jesse and Frank James: The James Family, page 31: "Robert Sallee James's middle name was given him in honor of a Baptist minister from Kentucky, Rev. Sallee, whom his parents admired."
